Recycling and Paper Policy
We continue our commitment to office and printing papers containing reduced virgin tree pulp. Though more expensive initially, these papers are less costly to all of us over the long term. Overdependence on virgin tree fibers has led to deforestation of native lands worldwide and facilitated the acceleration of global warming.
Currently, all in-house printing and copying are on 100% post-consumer stock. Most of our other printed forms use this same paper or tree-free bond, (90% post-consumer, 10% hemp and flax). Patient records are kept on card stock with at least 30% post-consumer waste, and all business cards, appointment cards, and postcards are printed on 30% post-consumer stock.
We support extensive in-office recycling in cooperation with the Monroe County Solid Waste District . A co-mingled collection system with later off-site sorting allows us to minimize interruption of work flow and save storage space. Documents with patient information are shredded before recycling to maintain privacy.
